Discover the London that the locals know with our luxury city guide to London: expert insight into the art, culture, history and shopping on offer in the capital of the UK.

London at a glance

London is always on the itinerary for any luxury trip to the UK, and with its world-famous museums and monuments, it’s easy to see why.

From St Paul’s Cathedral to the Houses of Parliament, classic English monuments are everywhere in London, highlighting the importance of this beautiful city to national and international affairs throughout the ages.

London’s real beauty lies in its vibrant and diverse social and cultural scene. Almost every imaginable cuisine is available in London, to the very highest standard, as well as everything from some of the world‘s coolest bars to cosy traditional pubs.

World-class theatre and musical entertainment can be found all over London as well as a variety of art and history museums housing exhibits on an extraordinary range of topics.

A real melting pot of vibrant cultures, London is a colourful and exciting city where you are sure to find something to intrigue and surprise you. The best way to live it as a visitor is with our handy city guide.

1. West London

This is an area with a diverse range of restaurants and up and coming boutiques. Picturesque residential streets and leafy squares provide the perfect setting for various different street markets, including the famous Portobello Road antiques market, where you can rummage to your heart‘s content in the hope of finding a discarded gem.

2. South West London

London’s most desirable address, SW1 is home to some of the most famous properties, hotels and restaurants in the world, let alone London. Where else can you eat in Gordon Ramsay’s flagship restaurant, go shopping in the luxury goods behemoth that is Harrods and then see number 10 Downing Street, the home of the British prime minister?

3. Westminster

The administrative heart of London for centuries, this area boasts a host of impressive landmarks and buildings, both old and new. The Houses of Parliament on the banks of the River Thames are particularly impressive, as is the nearby London Eye, where you can enjoy unbeatable panoramic views over the whole city from the top of the wheel.

4. Central London

After sightseeing, come to this area of London for the very best entertainment, restaurants and nightlife. A trip to see any one of the spectacular shows in the West End is a must-do to round off your evening.

5. North London

One of the most laid back areas of London, with a bohemian vibe and plenty of open space to enjoy. A real microcosm of London’s multi-cultural nature can be found in the vibrant area of Camden, with its famous market and variety of boutique shops.

6. East London

Formerly the docklands and surrounding area, East London retains the down-to-earth feel and has seen massive regeneration over the past few years. Cool bars, art galleries and the latest “to be seen in” restaurants can be found in this area.
