Where to ski in Megève: from beginner to expert, whatever your skiing level our handy guide to the slopes of Megève will help you make the most of your time in this top French resort.
Megève is surrounded by a fantastic variety of skiing areas, offering over 325km of pistes that will suit everyone from thrill-seekers to absolute beginners. A thorough network of ski lifts makes it easy and convenient to move between runs, while superb off-piste skiing offers exciting options to the advanced skier. Our recommendations are below, but there’s a fantastic range of pistes within easy reach of Megève so click on the links below for complete information.

Best for kids – La Caboche

Gentle slopes and a wide choice of expert ski schools make the easily accessible Caboche area an ideal choice for kids learning to ski. Ideal for wee ones to learn their first wobbling turns on their very first skiing holiday.

Best off-piste - Magic Garden Coté 2000

Megève offers a great range of off-piste skiing with varying difficulties and terrain, from forest to open snow. The jewel in the crown is the Magic Garden area, which offers a variety of routes on differing gradients to really reward the off-piste skier with an exhilarating experience.

Best for an adrenaline rush - Emile Allais

Megève focuses on quality rather than quantity when it comes to black runs, and the best of the routes for more experienced skiers is to be found in the Rochebrune sector. With a maximum gradient of 33 degrees and a vertical drop of 812m in the space of just 3km, Emile Allais offers bumps, jumps and an exciting run for those after a bit of drama and a challenge.

Best for intermediate skiers – Le Jaillet

With 71% of the ski area rated as being suitable for intermediates, Megève is perfect for those who are not ready to take on the hardest black runs but are too skilled for the easy beginners green runs. Red, blue and easy black runs are plentiful all over the area, from Mont D’Arbois to Rochebrune. For slightly more secluded intermediate skiing with amazing views of the Mont Blanc massif, make your way to the Le Jaillet area.

Best for freestyle – Mont d’Arbois

For those looking to catch some airtime and show off a bit, this specially laid out terrain park offers everything you need to work on nailing your dream trick. The slopes themselves offer many options for beginner and intermediate snowboarders, but to really take to the air, the terrain park is the place to go.
